Virginia Beach:

Our Elections Belong To Us!

ON Election Day:

Vote YES for the People.
Vote YES for Virginia Beach!

Virginia Beach’s 10-1 voting system has transformed our local government for the better. For the first time, every neighborhood has a dedicated representative, ensuring that every voice matters and that our City Council reflects the diverse and vibrant communities that make up Virginia Beach.

The 10-1 system works. It gave us the most diverse and representative City Council in our history, with leaders who won grassroots campaigns built on connecting with voters—not special interest & real estate developer dollars.

This November, voters will decide whether to make the 10-1 system permanent or roll back this progress. A YES vote keeps the 10-1 system in place.

Should the method of city council elections set forth in the Virginia Beach City Charter be changed from a modified 7-3-1 system to a 10-1 system?

Yes

No

$12,000.

That’s the average amount that Oceanfront Real Estate Developers are donating to the super PAC running ads telling voters to vote NO.

Why are Oceanfront real estate developers and shady LLCs spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to tell YOU to vote NO?

The opposition PAC, Every Vote Counts, is bankrolled by major Oceanfront real estate developers and corporate interests—with an average donation of over $12,000 per check. These developers have already raised more than $600,000 to overturn 10-1 and bring back a system that gives them control: a 1-7-3 hybrid system with 3 at-large seats.

Developers don’t spend that kind of money for fairness. They’re spending it because at-large elections allow them to buy influence—dominating campaigns with expensive TV ads, constant annoying postcards in your mailbox, and drowning out grassroots voices.

So why vote yes ?

One District, One Voice

Each neighborhood elects its own councilmember, ensuring real accountability and local representation.

Diverse Leadership

10-1 has led to the youngest, most diverse City Council in Virginia Beach history.

Grassroots Wins

Candidates are able to knock on doors, meet voters face-to-face, and win—without big money dominating the conversation.
